Vasco da Gama rounded the trip of Africa and he raced across the Atlantic Ocean. Vasco da Gama landed on India's coast when he went across the Atlantic Ocean. He tried to find a route o East Asia. Finally, with his help, the route that he was trying to find was discovered at last.

Henry the Navigator set up a research center in southern Portugal in 1419. In order to make sure that his project was accomplished, he invited sailors, cartographers, and ship builders to come and help him. In 1420, Portugal began mapping Africa's coastline and trading with their kingdoms. Henry the Navigator seized the Azores Madeira and Cape Verde islands. After they were trading with Africa, they started to discover sugarcane which set up a new development in trading.

Bartolomeu Dias was a Portuguese explorer that was in the year of 1488. Dias reached the southern tip of Africa. At this time, people wanted to go to Africa because they wanted to trade with them since they discovered that they had sugarcane in their society.
