The Columbian Exchange was a global exchange of people, goods, and technology, ideas, and even diseases. The global exchange started when Christopher Columbus brought back goods from the Americas to Europe in 1492. The two important foods that people traded was corn and potatoes. These goods were taken to Europe from North America. Both of the goods were used for different reasons. The corn was used to feed animals because the larger the animals were, they provided more meat, leather, and wool. With potatoes, people believed that four times as many people could live off the same amount of land.
